Charles Melton starred as Joe Yoo in the Academy Award-nominated movie, May December, which was released on Netflix back in 2023.
The movie follows Elizabeth (Portman), an actress researching for the role of Gracie Atherton-Yoo (played by Julianne Moore).
Gracie is based on Mary Kay Letourneau, who like the character is infamous for having a relationship with her 13-year-old student. In the movie, Moore’s character married her student Joe (Melton) and shared three children with him.
May December was heavily praised at the Cannes Film Festival in 2023, as it received an eight-minute standing ovation. It also amassed an impressive 91% rating on Rotton Tomatoes.
Watch the trailer below:
The movie features a pivotal moment where Joe betrays Gracie by having sex with Elizabeth, a scene Melton found particularly challenging to film due to the sacrifices he had to make on-set.
In an interview with Variety, the Riverdale star called the intimate scene “very professional” before explaining: “The whole thing. Natalie, [director Todd Haynes], and I met to discuss the scene, walking through it and ensuring everybody was comfortable.”
“There were a few conversations about the prosthetic, regarding what was realistic and what wasn’t. And I had to wear that prosthetic for nine hours that day,” he continued. “I didn’t have anything to drink that morning or the night before. That was an annoying process but still very respectful.”
The 34-year-old also shared that “so much pathos” went into his character, adding: “There’s this kind of repressed feeling. How they talk, it’s all right in the throat. For [playing] Joe, these words are forming for the first time.”
“It’s like seeing somebody at a party hunched over, protected, and not trying to take up too much space. Joe doesn’t even know he’s doing it,” he shared. “It’s part of his adult child that has translated into the physicality of his movement which he’s not even aware. It’s just him existing.”

Melton, who cited Tony Leung in ‘In the Mood for Love” and Heath Ledger in “Brokeback Mountain” as key inspirations for his performance, also expressed his admiration for director Todd Haynes.
“Todd held my hand every step of the way,” he said. “He would tell me, ‘You got this, trust your instincts.’ When you have that support from a director like Todd Haynes, in my opinion, the greatest living director, there’s no boundaries or limits.”

Lisa Kudrow reveals she recently found a note from Matthew Perry inside ‘Cookie Time’ Friends prop
Even after his tragic passing, Matthew Perry’s kindness continues to shine in ways that prove he’ll always be there for his friends.

His dear friend and Friends co-star Lisa Kudrow recently shared a deeply moving story during her appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, revealing that the late actor left behind a special memento for her.
Kudrow, who played the quirky and lovable Phoebe Buffay on the iconic sitcom, recounted how Perry gifted her the beloved “Cookie Time” jar from the Friends set as their time on the show came to an emotional close.
Eagle-eyed fans of the hit sitcom would know that the instantly recognizable prop was often seen in Monica’s apartment in a number of episodes throughout the show’s 10 seasons.

The jar is actually a vintage item, but its presence on the show has led to a surge in popularity for similar cookie jars, and fans can now easily find replicas and inspired designs online.
It wasn’t just the gesture itself that moved her, but a hidden treasure she had only recently discovered.
“Matthew gave that to me at the end of our last episode. And I had recently found the note that he had in it for me,” she told host Drew Barrymore, her voice tinged with emotion. “I hadn’t looked inside of it, but yeah, he did.
“He had a note in there and I forgot about it.”

Perry – who often voiced just how much the show and the cast meant to him – will forever be remembered as the quick-witted Chandler Bing.
The actor tragically passed away in October 2023 at the age of 54. His untimely death – caused by the “acute effects of ketamine”, per an autopsy report – devastated fans and loved ones alike. An investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death led to five individuals being charged in connection with his overdose.
Kudrow’s connection to Perry goes beyond their shared time on screen. Reflecting on his loss, she revealed in a June 2024 interview with The Hollywood Reporter that his passing gave her the strength to rewatch Friends for the first time since filming wrapped nearly two decades ago.
“Honestly, I wasn’t able to watch it because it’s too embarrassing to watch yourself,” she admitted. “But if I make it about Matthew, then that’s OK. And it’s just celebrating how hilarious he was—and that is what I want to remember [about him].”
Like millions of devoted fans around the world, Kudrow found herself laughing out loud at the show’s timeless humor and admiring the comedic talents of her castmates.
“Everyone is hilarious,” she shared. “I’m blown away by Courteney Cox. I’m blown away by Jen. Matthew, obviously, is just uniquely hilarious. No one ever knew that cadence or comedic rhythm before him. Matt LeBlanc is hilarious. And David Schwimmer, too.
“Sometimes I even laugh at what I’ve done.”

This is not the first time Kudrow has opened up about Perry gifting her the prop.
During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Kudrow recalled the moment Perry handed her the set piece, and the history behind it.
Kudrow explained: “We’re shooting a scene, years before we were finished, and my line was, ‘Oh! I better get going,’ like, ‘Oh! I’m late, I better get going.’” She mistakenly gestured to the cookie jar, thinking it was a clock.
“As the words were coming out, I went, ‘Oh, good, there’s a clock,’” Kudrow said, laughing. “I gestured to that, and said, ‘Oh! Look at the time. I gotta get going.’”
Perry, ever quick-witted, couldn’t resist pointing it out. “During shooting, Matthew said, ‘Did you look at the cookie jar and say look at the time?’” Kudrow recalled.

After the show wrapped, Perry made sure Kudrow had the cookie jar as a keepsake. Touched by the gesture, Kudrow quipped: “I think the first thing I asked was, ‘This was so nice—did you get permission?’ I mean, my car used to get searched every night when I left.”
Netflix accidentally announces release date for Squid Game final season in now-deleted video
As fans dive into the second season of Squid Game, Netflix may have accidentally leaked the release date for the third installment.
The first season of Squid Game took the world by storm, and it seems like the second has done the same.
The South Korean show centers around a series of childhood games that contestants must complete in order to win a huge cash prize.
The catch is that if they fail… they die.

That’s obviously a massive simplification and there’s a deeper story about the rich paying to watch the less fortunate risk their lives for money.
Spoilers from here on out.
The first season ends with Seong Gi-hun (played by Lee Jung-jae) winning the games, but instead of taking his money and running, he dedicates himself to putting a stop to the Squid Game once and for all.
And this is where the second season kicks off!
It all ended on a bit of a cliffhanger, so fans are already keen to get to the finale…
Series creator Hwang Dong-hyuk, in an interview with Variety, explained his long-term vision for the series.
“I was originally planning to write this story across a span of about eight to nine episodes,” Hwang shared. “But once I finished the story, it came to over 10 episodes, which I thought was too long to contain in a single season.”

Hwang elaborated on the structure of the series: “And so I wanted to have an adequate point where I could give closure as a second season and then move on with the third.
“When you look at Gi-hun’s story, all of his attempts that he puts in to stop the game: the first one being getting these mercenaries and trying to plant a tracking device, that goes to fail; the second attempt of trying to persuade people to vote so that they can leave the game, that goes to fail as well; and then the third and last attempt of bringing people together and causing the rebellion, it also all goes to fail.”
As fans speculate about when the series finale will hit screens, Hwang has remained tight-lipped.
He told Variety: “But what I can say is, after Season 2 launches, I believe we will be announcing the launch date for Season 3 soon. I probably expect that to launch around summer or fall next year.”
However, it seems Netflix Korea may have unintentionally jumped the gun.
According to Comic Basics, a video uploaded to Netflix Korea’s official YouTube channel briefly disclosed June 27 as the release date for Season 3.
The video was then switfly deleted, which probably means someone has got in trouble for publishing the post early.
So we might not have that long to wait!
rence Pugh and Andrew Garfield got so carried away in sex scene that cameraman was forced to turn away and look at the wall
Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield got so into filming a sex scene that it ended up with a pretty awkward moment with the cameraman.
The two British actors lent their talents to We Live In Time, a new romantic movie that has got everyone talking.
The film, directed by John Crowley, follows the love story of Tobias and Almut, played by Garfield and Pugh, after a chance meeting changes their lives forever.
Having premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 6, 2024, it was released in the U.S. on October 11, 2024.

The highly anticipated movie is now available in cinemas across the UK and Europe as of January 1, 2025.
During a Q&A session with Josh Horowitz at 92nd Street Y in New York, Garfield recalled the moment he and Pugh “didn’t hear cut” during an intimate scene, per E! Online.
“We were doing the first take of this very intimate, passionate scene and it’s a closed set which means it’s only me and Florence and the camera operator who’s a lovely man called Stuart,” Garfield explained.
“And he’s very polite and very sweet and gentle. The director’s in another room next door.”
As the scene progressed, Garfield admitted that both he and Pugh became so immersed in their roles that they inadvertently went further than intended.
“And so the scene becomes passionate and we get into it as it were and we go a little bit further than we were meant to… it’s feeling safe and we just kind of… go from the next thing to the next thing and we’ll let this progress and we’ll just carry on,” he continued.
It wasn’t until Garfield glanced up that he realized something was off. He noticed Stuart, the cameraman, standing in the corner of the room with the camera by his side, facing the wall. Stuart was waiting for them to realize the scene had ended.

People have naturally had a lot to say on the matter, with one person noting: “How in character does one have to be for this to happen?”
A second person said: “That’s so awkward, but kudos to the cameraman for being considerate!”
We Live In Time is available to watch in movie theaters right now.
‘Wicked’ fans outraged after heartbreaking deleted scene emerges online
Wicked fans have seen a deleted scene from the movie and are adamant that it should have made the final cut.
Wicked took the box office by storm as we went into the festive period and it’s clear to see why.
The film, which many know via the musical theatre show, is an alternative look at the Wizard of Oz story.
It follows Elphaba (The Wicked Witch Of The West) and Glinda (The Good Witch) as they navigate their enemies to friends story at school.

It makes you unable to see The Wizard of Oz in the same light, and also delivers some incredible songs.
And of course, Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande who play Elphaba and Glinda respectively absolutely nailed their parts.
The movie managed to stretch Act One of the musical into two hours and 40 minutes, but it was well worth it.
So it might surprise you to learn that there are actually more scenes that didn’t make the cut – and one has left fans outraged.

(Spoilers from this point)The scene shows Glinda grappling with her struggles in magic, prompting Elphaba to remark: “Maybe it’s harder for you to make magic because things have been kind of easy for you – so you don’t need it.”
The conversation takes a deeper turn when Glinda brings up Elphaba and Fiyero’s (Jonathan Bailey) daring rescue of a caged lion cub, a moment that occurred after their classmates were put to sleep.
Questioning her exclusion from the rescue mission, Glinda says: “I would’ve helped you, if you needed someone. You could’ve picked me.”
Elphaba, moved by her friend’s words, offers a heartfelt apology: “I’m sorry, it was a mistake. I won’t leave you behind again.”
The scene’s removal has left fans questioning the creative decision. One Reddit user said: “Oh come on, this is so sweet. I absolutely love this movie but just realized how much it was missing a scene like this!!!!”
Another user pointed out the scene’s significance, writing: “This scene explains the reasoning why Elphaba decided to invite Glinda to go to Emerald City with her. ‘I promise to not leave you again,’ plus it shows Glinda studying magic for once.”
Others echoed similar sentiments, with one comment reading: “This scene says so much though and the movie would have been even better with it in. It shows more contrast and similarity between the two. It wouldn’t have affected running time that much.”
Some reactions were more lighthearted.
“Whyyyy was this removed? Will this become my new Roman Empire?” one fan joked, while another added: “Why did they take this out….”
In addition to this moment between Glinda and Elphaba, several other notable scenes were left on the cutting room floor.
These include Glinda attempting to teach her roommate how to toss her hair, an encounter between Elphaba and Fiyero in the forest with the lion cub, and a confrontation between Elphaba and Boq (Ethan Slater) regarding his feelings for Nessarose (Marissa Bode).
Regardless of what was left on the cutting room floor, the film was amazing.
Child actor from ‘E.T.’ reveals why he regretted taking the life-changing role

In the past decade or so, more and more former child actors have been speaking out about the traumatizing experiences they had after gaining fame at a young age.
One of the most notable stars that spoke out was none other than Henry Thomas, who played the lead role of Elliot alongside Drew Barrymore as Gertie in E.T.
The Steven Spielberg classic follows a young boy who befriends an alien that has fallen onto Earth, protecting him from the government officials who have come to try and take him away.

Thomas was only nine at the time the movie was released, but now at 53, he can confirm that it’s one of his lifelong regrets, despite it also improving the quality of his life.
Speaking to The Mirror, the actor opened up about how his life changed after taking the role.
“Of course there have been times I regretted being the kid in E.T.,” Henry told the outlet in a previous interview. “My world went completely crazy. I was that stupid kind of famous, where you can’t go anywhere.”
He continued: “It was like that for the first six months after E.T. was in cinemas. I’d go out and get mobbed. I was a shy kid, and being approached by adults all the time just freaked me out.”
He even went as far as referring to himself as a “circus freak”.
“I was like a circus freak. But the only time I had to deal with it was when I left the house. So I stopped leaving the house. I became an 11-year-old hermit,” he added.
Not only was the fame difficult to grasp, but he was also unprepared for what he would be dealing with on set, including his superstar cast member… the alien.
“When I saw this alien with the weird feet and the telescopic neck, I was like: ‘What the hell is this? Where is my lightsaber?’ But I guess I got a flying bicycle, so I can’t complain,” he stated.
However, when the chaos of filming had ended, the star decided to go back to his home state of Texas and continue with his education – a decision that left him being the target of bullies.
“I was an easy target. Everybody tried to flush my head down the toilet. Perhaps it was jealousy, perhaps it was just kids being kids. They were like: ‘What the f*** are you doing back here? Who do you think you are?'”

In an interview with the Guardian, Thomas also opened up about how the fame impacted his family negatively.
“[My mother] was doing the best job that she knew how to do,” he told the outlet. “My whole family weren’t really well equipped to deal with anything like that. And other than a few precautions, we didn’t change our lives that much.
“Consequently, we got a lot of weird visitors to our residence and things like that, phone calls,” he said, noting that his mom was forced to call the police a few times.
“We had to call the authorities a few times. ET was a real sensation, some people were fanatical about it,” he added.
Despite his experiences though, he emphasized that if there are children out there that want to do this, he would encourage them to follow their dreams.
