“Supernatural” is a popular television series that ran for 15 seasons from 2005 to 2020, following the Winchester brothers, Sam and Dean, as they hunted supernatural forces. After ending in 2020, fans have been eagerly awaiting the possibility of the series being revived for a 16th season.
On April 1, 2024, Misha Collins, the actor who plays the angel Castiel, posted on Instagram that “Supernatural” could return in 2025 under the guidance of original creator Eric Kripke. However, the post was quickly revealed to be an April Fool’s Day joke, as Collins expressed mock disappointment at not being cast in the fictional project.
Previously, in December 2023, during a panel, Jared Padalecki (Sam Winchester) and Jensen Ackles (Dean Winchester) discussed the possibility of reviving “Supernatural”. Padalecki shared that they had “some ideas” and hoped to work on them together when the writers and actors returned to work. Ackles also confirmed that “there are some ongoing discussions” about this.
Padalecki revealed that they had discussed returning five years after the series ended in 2020, which would be in 2025. He shared: “We said, ‘Let’s meet in five years and see what Sam and Dean are doing.’”
While there has been no official confirmation of season 16 of “Supernatural,” discussions and hints from the main cast have sparked hope among fans that the series could return in the near future.
